Service robots or nursing home? The Germans answer is clear: 83 percent can imagine to use a service robot at home if they could continue to live longer in their own homes. This is the main result from a recent survey conducted by the opinion research institute Forsa on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Federal Research Minister Johanna Wanka comment: “I am pleased that the citizens are open to robotics. (…) We need to align the technical possibilities to the actual needs of the people. If they succeed, autonomous systems can sustainably improve the quality of life.” The survey on “service robotics: human-computer interaction in everyday life” is based on 1 003 telephone interviews between 6 and 12 April 2016.
