The Norrbotten-region in the northern part of Sweden is investing in a new eSport League for youth with the purpose to improve school-results. This is a joint project including local authorities and game-developer businesses within the region. The vision is that the project will lead to personal development of the pupils both because of the gaming part of the project but also the fact that if the pupils want to participate they have to have approved grades from school. Esport is growing rapidly in the northern regions of Sweden and this project will include social activities and training and competition besides motivating pupils to study in the ordinary school education. A special focus is set to motivate girls to participate in the eSport-project since eSport traditionally has been a boys’ world. Source: Norrbotten e-Sport Arena
