During the Gartner Symposium/ITxpo October 14-18, 10 strategic technology trends for 2019 was identified. The definition of such a trend is that it should have substantial disruptive potential or being a rapidly growing trend with the tipping point within the next 5 years. Some of the most interesting trends identified are Autonomous things, such as robots, drones and autonomous vehicles, which means AI that goes beyond rigidly programmed tasks with more focus on more natural interaction with humans and the surroundings. Another trend identified is Augmented Analytics that is based on machine learning (ML) to transform how analytics content is developed, consumed and shared. This could be e.g. applied to HR, finance, sales, marketing and customer service in order to optimize the decisions and actions of all employees within their working space. A third trend, that we at eLearningworld is very interesting in, is Immersive Experiences that will be changing the way people are interacting and perceiving the digital world. This includes virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR), we will come back to these trends later. Other trends that were presented was blockchain and digital ethics.
