The impact of Characters in Storytelling, new research

The Impact Of Characters In Storytelling, New ResearchNew research from McMaster University in Canada shows new interestingRead It On Applenews Badge Rgb Us Uk results on the impact of one of the most ancient and engaging art forms, namely storytelling. The focus of the research was the mechanisms of storytelling and the results show: “… that no matter how a narrative is expressed—through words, gestures or drawings—our brains relate best to the characters, focusing on the thoughts and feelings of the protagonist of each story.” This means that people more easily relate to the actions and communications of other humans even in fiction than the story in itself. The research was conducted by using fMRI to scan the participants’ brain while short headline was presented to them. Then they were asked to develop stories by using speech, gestures or drawing.
