School Digitization: 90% of Digital Pact funds now spent

German federal and state governments have reported that 90% of the Digital Pact funds have been used. This means that around 2.3 billion euros have been spent on expanding the digital infrastructure in schools. The Digital Pact is a joint initiative by the federal and state governments to support the digitalization of education. It provides funding for projects such as the purchase of new computers and tablets, the development of digital learning materials, and the training of teachers. So far, the funding has been used to benefit around 28 000 schools across Germany. The remaining funds can be used until the end of 2025.

Digital Pact funds success

Federal Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger said that the Digital Pact is “heading towards the final part at an increased pace.” She is committed to supporting schools in Germany with even more targeted and unbureaucratic digitalization through the Digital Pact 2.0.

The President of the Conference of Ministers of Education, Katharina Günther-Wünsch, said that the federal and state governments have shown that they can work together to address current challenges. She is pleased about the federal government’s commitment to continuing the Digital Pact.
