The Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2016, has been taking place October 16-20 in Orlando, here the renowned research company presented its predictions of the top ten strategic technology trends for 2017. Gartner defines a strategic technology trend “as one with substantial disruptive potential that is just beginning to break out of an emerging state into broader impact and use or which are rapidly growing trends with a high degree of volatility reaching tipping points over the next five years.” Among the trends that were identified included applied artificial intelligence and advanced machine learning and another trend was virtual- and augmented-reality that will transform how people interact with each other. Intelligent apps that e.g. work to simplify people’s everyday life: “Over the next 10 years, virtually every app, application and service will incorporate some level of AI,” said David Cearley, vice president and Gartner Fellow.
