Pupils in 30 Norwegian municipalities will have the opportunity to choose coding in their school education. The Minister of Education Torbjørn Røe Isaksen comment the pilot-project in the following way: “An important reason to introduce coding as a choice is to increase the pupils’ interest for technology and science. Through coding the pupils receive knowledge that science is creative and exciting, and not least these competences are important in the future.” The pilot-project will start in autumn 2016 and continue during three year. The pupils will have the opportunity to program robots, create animations and simple computer software as well as test different programming languages etc. Source: Press Release Government of Norway
