A new virtual reality laboratory opens for researchers at the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC). The purpose is that they from real world scenarios can study a soldier’s cognitive abilities and performance in operational situations. “This capability brings our tightly controlled laboratory work one step closer to the field/operationally relevant environment.(…) Individual-level behavior can be elicited through immersive, scripted scenarios, and measured through location and orientation tracking, eye tracking, physiology and neurophysiology”, says the team leader Dr Caroline Mahoney. The goal is to optimize soldiers’ behaviour in field operations. Source: army.mil
