Smartphones everybody knows about, smart cities are being introduced in the spirit of sustainability and effective technical and logistic solutions etc. But what about smart schools? Fast Internet in the whole the school building, interactive whiteboards, cloud services and virtual reality, in a smart school of the digital age this should be a part of everyday life. Now the first German smart school has opened in Saarbrücken with focus set to develop appropriate educational concepts and further training for teachers to make technology boost the learning environment. “Teachers and students should learn to understand digital technology and to use it clever.” the Minister of Education Johanna Wanka said when visiting the Gesamtschule Bellevue in Saarbrücken, that is what a smart school basically is all about.
