ROSS is a legal research virtual assistant that is developed from IBM’s Watson computer that won the Jeopardy show in 2011. The developers of ROSS promote it as “a super intelligent attorney” with skills to answer general questions about legal matters and provide comprehensive supporting references to relevant statute and case law. Thereby, ROSS do the same work as trainee lawyers do, and in the same way as trainees learn and gain experience, a future where ROSS can analyse cases and give advice in client matters is not that far away. This would mean that it stepping into the field of senior lawyers.
