As a part of President Obama’s Brain Initiative the US Government now is launching “Apollo Project of the Brain”. This is a $100 million-project with the purpose to improve algoritms to function more like the human brain. Currently algoritms is still using a rather simplified method to analyse information for patterns, where the outcome of generalising from complex information gives rather poor results. “So if we go one level deeper and take information from the brain at the computational level and not just the architectural level, we can enhance those algorithms and get them closer to brain-like performance,” Jacob Vogelstein at IARPA says to Scientific America.
