eLearningworld News from Norway
The main part of the public inquiry about the future school in Norway was delivered to the Minister of Education and Research, Torbjørn Røe Isaksen, yesterday. The researchers identify four competences that will lay the foundation of the 21st Century School: 1. Subject field competence 2. Competence to learn 3. Competence to communicate, collaborate and participate 4. Competence to explore and create. The cross-subject-field approach is one of the main differences in comparison with the 20th Century School. Explore and create as a core competence is another finding that will lead to transformation of school. It is also noted that many fields of subject is developing much faster than before, which means that the curriculum and teachers competence must be renewed much more frequently.
