Pedagogical innovation is driven by discoveries in neurological research and teaching-skills-development research. Today innovation to a large extent takes place in interplay with the development of technology. IT-pedagogical tools, eLearning modules and the web in general contribute and are sometimes critical in order to be able to implement the latest findings of pedagogical innovation in practice.
Systemic innovation
In the study ”Systemic innovation of education. Forging action, gaining momentum, shifting paradigm” the societal development is being analysed as a driving force of this system-transformation that has begun within the educational sector and which consequences it could lead to for learning. Besides the background and consequences the author of the study, Cornelis Adrianus van Dorp, produces a foundation for the construction of educations and courses.
The model consists of four cornerstones:
-information- and communication technology
-neurological- and educational research
-the students- and the learnings- spatial prerequisites
-course objective and course goals
Seven pedagogical methods
Seven pedagogical methods on the four cornerstone-model:
-teaching for a group – formal learning situation
-collaborative learning – less formal, more laborative and exploring learning
-group-exercise learning – more self-governed learning on group level
-self studies – more self-governed learning on individual level
-individual adapted learning – relation-based learning, teacher and student
-introduction-based teaching – preparing learning
-support/help-based learning – follow-up or one-to-one teaching
-development of future pedagogical methods
Pedagogical toolbox
The result of the content on the four cornerstones and combinations of the seven pedagogical methods and new methods leads to the pedagogical solution for a specific course. The course-developer would then start from a bird’s perspective at construction of the course in order to gain the best possible concept.
More articles about course- and eLearning modules development will be published within the following weeks.
