Digital Society Education – €13.7 million to LifeLong Learning

The funding of €13.7 million is directed towards developing a more flexible educational market for lifelong learning. The focus is set on digital competence, programmes for different business fields where a lot of new competence is required and module-based learning. Where this, in the next step will be one of the engines to transform the Norwegian economy to the digital society’s prerequisites and requirements. The minister of education and integration, Jan Tore Sanner, comments in the following way: “I am especially happy about that we propose the funding of €3.9 million to develop flexible further education for digital competence. This will develop a close co-operation between higher education and businesses. It could focus on artificial intelligence, sensor technology, ICT security or labour division between human and machine.” The reform proposal is included in the national budget for 2019.
