BBC promote digitalisation by giving pupils mini-computers

Microbit-Hands-OneLearningworld News from UK

BBC will be giving away mini-computers to eleven-year-old children across the UK as a part of a broader digitalisation initiative. The computer is called One million Micro Bits and is similar to a Raspberry Pi. It will be given to all pupils starting secondary school in the autumn term. At the same time BBC will be launching a season of coding-based programmes and activities in its channels. As part of its initiative, an apprenticeship scheme for 5 000 young unemployed people to boost their digital skills, has been launched. This should also be seen in the light of that it is estimated that there will be a shortage of 1.4 million “digital professionals” over the next five years in UK. Source: BBC
