A new dimension is being added to the mission of designing for interaction with the user by the launch of ARkit from Apple. This delivers an illusion of actually bringing 3D-objects beyond the screen out of the iPhone or iPad to interact with the environment outside the device. Since in these AR apps, the device’s camera is used to present a live, onscreen view of the physical world. By turning their device the user can explore the 3D-objects from different angles and interact with them using gestures and movement (if the experience allows it). According to Techcrunch the AR apps will be available for iPhones and iPads within the next 12 months, and in the following 12 months ARCore-supporting devices from Google will be available. This means that totally more than a billion devices with AR-app support  will be available that just waiting for new AR-experiences. Source: Apple Developer  and Techcrunch
